January 2011 I made my first trip to Petroglyph.  Was in Albuquerque to ride my bicyles.  Needed a day off the bikes, so decided to hike among the petroglyphs.  Brought my cameras.

Petroglyph National Monument stretches 17 miles along Albuquerque's West Mesa.  The Vistor's Center is at the junction of Unser Blvd and Western Trail.  There is no entrance fee (except for Boca Negra Canyon).  I recommend at stop at the Visitor's Center and pick up the descriptions of the various section of the Monument.

Petroglyph National Monument has 4 distict sections - Rinconada Canyon, Boca Negra Canyon, Piedras Marcada Canyon, and Volcanoes.  Volcanoes Day Use Area is the one section of the Monument that bicycling is allowed.

There are separate pages for each of the areas of the monument.  Click on the title or photo to take you to that photo page.
