During my first 2 week trip to Albuquerque, I spend a day touring the Jemez Mountains.  Early morning depart frim the hotel.  Drive up I-25 to US 550 towards Zia Pueblo and San Ysidro.  NM 4 is a scenic road.  I did not stop at the Jemez State monumnet (I was too early - not open yet).

Stopped in at the Valles Caldera Visitor's Center.  Next stop on the tour of the Jemes Mountains was Bandelier National Monument.  Still had part of the day left, decided to check out Los Alamos and the Bradbury Science Museum of Los Alamos National Laboratory.

In 2012, I made 2 trips to Santa Fe - February & May,  Check out more info about Santa Fe visits.

When in the Jemez Mountains, check out Gilman Tunnels on NM 485 out of the North side of Jemez Pueblo.
